Children's learning

Welcome back to Term 3
We have had a very busy first week back. The new children tried really hard to settle into routine and the older children were all rested and ready for this term's learning.
This week the children were in groups learning lots of different literacy and maths games/activities. Some activities were played on the I pads and computer.

These children were learning to make patterns using unfix cubes

These children were learning to make shapes using colour rubber bands.

These girls were practicing writing their numbers.

These children were practicing their formation of letters on an I pad and practicing solving maths problems.

This group of children were practicing their fine motor skills by threading buttons and shapes.

On Friday we had the Inflatable football promotion. We had fun playing soccer and jumping on the BIG bouncy court.

Life Education
We had our first session in Harold's classroom this afternoon. His classroom was so cool it has lots of different colour lights. Our favourite light was the stars.
We learnt how to be friends and the importance of having friends. Friends are kind, helpful and we can have different friends.
We met Harold.

Today we had "The Sailor Asthma show" at our school talking to us about "Asthma".

Lots of things can trigger asthma like... pollen, smoke, dust mite, cold, and mucus.

We learnt how to look after ourselves or someone with asthma.

This term for our maths strand, we are learning about patterns. We have made patterns using lots of colourful shapes.

Inflatable Football

Today we had the Inflatable football in our school. We learnt to control the soccer ball with different parts of our bodies. The funny one was to control the ball with our nose. That was tricky.

Welcome to Term 2. It has been a very exciting week getting to know all of our new children. Lots of smiley faces and some teary ones too. Our big kids in the class are doing a fantastic job at looking after the new children. Here are some of our learning.
We are reading with Ms Ye. Practicing making and writing the sight word "is".

Preschool visits 6/4
We had 7 new children plus mums and dads visited us this morning. It was great to see the older children working with the new children. We hope they have enjoyed their visit.

Road Safety:
Today we had Constable Wansink (or Wonderful Wansink as some students call her) come to our class to teach us about road safety. She spoke with us about how to stop, look, and listen before crossing the street. After that we got to go up to the Kea Crossing and practice how to cross safely.

Kelly Sport:
Last week we had a sports day put on by Kelly Sport. We got to try out all sorts of different activities such as rugby, football, and cricket. We had a great time playing all of these different sports!

We had our first swimming day last Friday and we got to go again today. We learned how to get in and out of the pool safely and had a great time blowing bubbles under the water.

This week we've been busy doing Wa Kitea (Discovering Learning through play) and we also did self-portraits using crayon and dye. Our amazing art work will be displayed in the classroom. Please come and have a look.
